TaskReminder AddIn by Antony Scerri

Introduction
============
This application is an addin for the standard Tasks application on the PocketPC. It allows you to modify the reminder time and other options for a task. This allows you to get around the problem with task reminders being set to go off at 8am.

System Requirements
===================
PocketPC Devices
 o ARM running PPC2000 or PPC2002
 o x86 Emulator running PPC2002

Microsoft ActiveSync 3.0 or greater

Installation
============
To install you can either use the provided TaskReminder.msi, which will carry out the full installation. The installer will install the files on your local desktop, and register them with ActiveSync's Application Manager. You can then install it onto more than one device, it will also help with uninstalling the application.

To manually install it you can copy the appropriate CAB file to your device. And then simply by clicking on the file it will install it on your device. For experienced users you can use the ini file provided to register the application through ActiveSync's Application Manager.

How To Use It
=============
This application appears as an additional menu entry on the Tools menu of the Tasks application on your PocketPC. It will also appear on the context menu if you hold the stylus down on a task. If you select multiple tasks, it will iterate through each one in turn so you can change the setting one by one. You will see the subject line of the task to help you identify each task.

Once in the Task Reminder window, you will be able to change multiple reminder options for the task. Those options being :-
 o You can switch on or off the reminder.
 o You can set the date of the reminder. 
 o You can set the time of the reminder.
 o You can set which notification types should be used
  + LED
  + Sound
  + Dialog Popup
  + Vibration
 o You can set whether the reminder should repeat

Note - There is a limit on the reminder date and time, to being no more than 45 days from the current time, or being after 12am on the due date.

Once you have finished changing the settings simply click the OK icon in the top right corner.


Uninstall
=========
To uninstall this application you should use the Add/Remove program options from within ActiveSync if you used the installer. This will uninstall the application from the device and/or from your desktop. It may be necessary to uninstall the original files after this by simply going to the Add/Remove Programs option in the control panel on your desktop and removing TaskReminder AddIn.

If you installed the files manually, or the installer was unable to use ActiveSync correctly, you can use the Remove Program option on the device in Settings.

Known Problems
==============
Currently there are two know issues :-
1)The reminder does not appear to go off at the selected time on the PocketPC. If however you have synchronised with a desktop PC they will go off at the selected time. This appears to be a hardcoded trigger on the PocketPC to only go off at 8am. I am currently researching this problem.
2)Under some circumstances when editing the details of the task you may not be able to close that task again. This appears to be a short coming in the error handling built into the Tasks application on the PocketPC. I am looking into how my AddIn appears to cause this symptom.
